Meet your teacher

My name is Mathilde Gouider

For the past 7 years, students have called me Whaea Mathilde as I taught over 300 students in primary, intermediate, secondary and adults schools and learning centers across Auckland. I am a French native speaker and a registered New Zealand teacher. I studied teaching at the University of Auckland as well as Fashion Design and Business Management in France. Before being a teacher, I was a Fashion Designer, Hotel Manager and Singer. Although I have taught all subject areas of the NZ curriculum, I particularly enjoy teaching my own language.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with whānau, travel, read and enjoy artistic activities. You might have also seen me singing on stage, as I perform with my Jazz Band, Firenze, around the city often.  I speak 7 languages, most of which I learnt by myself, thanks to my pattern recognition approach, which I share with my learners. French can seem strange and intimidating but I am here to make it fun and easy. Fun fact, 60% of academic English is French, you speak French everyday without realising it! I'll help you unlock the French you already know.

"Mathilde is an amazing French teacher. During my time with her I have progressed from a terrified newbie to someone who can now converse confidently in French in both work and social situations. I can’t speak highly enough of Mathilde.
If you are serious about it and motivated to learn French, she is the teacher for you. Highly, highly recommended!"
